Some Calculus Refreshing…

In order to define our woods bending limits as a parameter in grasshopper, we plan to calculate the “curvature circle” of a maximum-stressed wood member. We can then have grasshopper stop us from molding our surface if one or more member would require a “curvature circle” that is smaller than our calculated limit. The concept is simple enough, but it’s good to understand what a curvature circle really represents.

It’s basically a circle that is tangent to a point along a curve with the same curvature as the curve at that point.
