We started developing a system for analyzing moment properties of wood slats. We held a piece at a fixed point and bent it. We marked the midpoint prior to curvature, and put thumbtacks on the wall at the start, end and midpoints of the bent wood. Then we measured the perpendicular bisector to get the maximum bending for that particular piece of wood. We may want to modify this process, as simply having a person stepping on the end isn’t ideal- we want to get some clamps and see how much of a different it makes.
